What is dispensary SEO?
Dispensary SEO is the work that gets a licensed cannabis store found in Google's map pack, in organic results and on searches for its own menu items. It covers your Google Business Profile, your website and menu, listings such as Weedmaps and Leafly, customer reviews and local links, all inside Google's rules and your state's advertising rules.
How is dispensary SEO different from regular local SEO?
Paid ads are closed to you, your menu sits in an embed Google only partly indexes, every visitor meets an age gate, and your state has its own advertising rules. Regular local SEO deals with none of these.
Can a dispensary have a Google Business Profile, and which category should it use?
Yes, if it's licensed and has a storefront where it serves customers. Use the Cannabis store category (there's no "dispensary" category), keep the name exactly as on your sign and license, and keep THC products, prices and deals out of the profile. Common causes of suspension are a wrong category, keywords in the name or an address that doesn't match the license.
Why isn't my Dutchie or Jane menu showing in Google?
Usually one of these: the standard embed is only partly indexed, the platform's SEO setting is off, the menu sitemap isn't in your robots.txt, an age gate or canonical tag blocks it, or a subdomain menu counts as a separate site. The audit tells you which, and your platform's route to pages on your own domain.
We're on Dutchie Plus. What happens at the end of 2026?
Dutchie supports Dutchie Plus through the end of 2026. We plan the move to Dutchie E-Commerce Pro on a sub-path or another platform, map every old URL to its new one and watch your rankings through the switch.
Will an age gate hurt my SEO?
Only if it's built as a redirect or a blocking screen. Google recommends letting verified Googlebot crawl past a mandatory age gate, and showing the gate on top of content that has already loaded. We rebuild gates that block crawling.
Do Weedmaps and Leafly help my Google rankings?
They help your customers, and they help Google confirm your name, address and hours. We keep both accurate, but we don't count them as authority links.
Can you work with multi-location groups and MSOs?
Yes. Each store gets its own profile, store page, menu route and schema, so the stores don't compete. The MSO plan adds a dedicated strategist, a written rulebook for each state and a rollout plan for new stores.
Can a delivery-only service rank in the map pack?
No. Google doesn't allow businesses selling age-restricted products, cannabis included, to have a Business Profile without a storefront. We build your website and your Weedmaps and Leafly listings to win delivery searches instead.
How long does dispensary SEO take?
Profile fixes show in the first 4 weeks. Menu pages get indexed and start ranking in months 1 to 3. "Dispensary near me" improves across the grid in 3 to 6 months, and dense markets can take 6 to 12.
How much does dispensary SEO cost?
$1,800 a month for a single store, $1,500 per store a month for 2 to 10 stores, and from $1,200 per store a month for 11 or more. No setup fee, and 10% off for annual payment. Menu indexing is in every plan. Custom headless menu builds and platform fees are quoted separately.
How do you get more reviews without breaking the rules?
Ask every customer on Google, Weedmaps and Leafly, never filter out unhappy ones, never offer a reward and never review your own listing. Gating and rewards break Google's review policy, and rewards tied to positive reviews break the FTC's review rule.
Is this different from local SEO for hemp shops?
Yes. Licensed dispensaries sell marijuana under a state license, with the Cannabis store category, menu platforms and state cannabis ad rules. CBD and hemp shops sell hemp-derived products under different rules, so we run them as a separate service.
Do I need a long contract, and what do you need from us?
No. We ask for 90 days, the length of the guarantee. If your store isn't in the top 3 of the Google map pack for at least one agreed priority search, measured from your store's address, within 90 days of your profile being live and verified, we work the next month free. After that, pause or cancel each store with 30 days' notice. We need profile, website and menu platform access, store photos and your license details.
