Top 15 Cannabis Marketing Agencies in 2026 (Ranked & Verified)
The agency sitting at number one on Google for “cbd seo agency” does about 10% of its business in cannabis. The one at number four declines to name a single cannabis client. The one at number six runs a cannabis service page while its largest industry, by its own Clutch profile, is gambling.
We went looking for a list of cannabis marketing agencies and found six of them already ranking. Every performance figure on all six was supplied by the agency being reviewed. Nobody had checked anything.
So we checked. We pulled organic data on 15 agencies and on the client sites they name in their case studies. We asked three AI models to recommend cannabis agencies and compared their answers to Google’s. That last test produced something we did not expect: six of the agencies the models recommended have no verifiable existence, and four of them are hyperlinked to domains that do not resolve.
This list ranks by how much of an agency’s business is actually cannabis and what it can prove about compliance. Not by size, not by domain authority, and not by who paid to be here.
Our conflict of interest
We rank ourselves first. Four of the six competing roundups do the same and none of them mention it, so here is ours in plain terms.
CBDSEOXperts is a cannabinoid-only SEO agency. We compete directly with several firms on this list. The criteria below were set before we scored anyone, they were applied identically to our own entry, and every claim we make about another agency is sourced to that agency’s own site or its Clutch profile. Where we could not verify something, we say so, including about ourselves. If you think we have placed ourselves wrong, the data is all here.
How we picked these 15?
We started with 61 agencies pulled from Google’s top 30 results across nine cannabis marketing and CBD SEO keywords, plus every agency named on the six competing roundups. That got cut to 22 after removing firms with no cannabis service page. Then we scored the remainder against six criteria.
Cannabis share of business. Taken from Clutch industry mix or a public client roster. A cannabis service page with no cannabis clients behind it scores zero.
Verifiable cannabinoid clients. Named on the agency’s own site or in a case study. Logo walls without supporting detail do not count.
Plant-touching capability. Determined from the client roster, not from claims. An agency whose entire cannabis roster is hemp CBD brands cannot help a plant-touching MSO with state advertising law, and we score it accordingly.
Compliance evidence. Google Business Profile reinstatements, age-gating work, dispensary menu platform integrations, approved cannabis or CBD accounts on ad platforms.
Independent awards only. CLIO, ADCANN, Clio PR, O’Dwyer’s. Trade-publication honors that operate on a pay-to-enter basis were excluded, and we name them where they appear.
Pricing transparency. Published rates score higher than “contact us.” Only four of the 15 publish anything.
Three agencies that appear on other roundups were removed outright. Their section is near the bottom.
We asked three AI models to name the best cannabis agencies. Six of their answers do not exist.
This part started as a small check and turned into the most useful thing in the article.
More buyers now open ChatGPT instead of Google when they want a shortlist. So we ran the same prompt through ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini on 20 August 2026: what are the best cannabis marketing agencies and CBD SEO agencies in 2026?
Then we compared the answers to who actually ranks.
Google’s top result is invisible to AI
Coalition Technologies holds position one on Google for “cbd seo agency.” Across three AI models, it was named zero times. So were 1Digital Agency at position four, Bird Marketing at five, and Elit-Web at six.
Meanwhile ChatGPT and Perplexity both put Client Verge at number one. Client Verge does not appear anywhere on Google’s first page for that query.
Five agencies were named by all three models. Those five are the closest thing to consensus in this category, and four of them also rank on Google. Outside that overlap, the two lists share almost nothing.
We were named by none of them either, which is the reason we started measuring this in the first place. Our own absence from AI answers is what sent us looking at how the agencies that do get named got there. What we found is below, and it is not what we expected.
If you are a cannabis brand shortlisting agencies, the tool you open determines which companies you find.
Four of five agencies in one AI-cited listicle have no website
ChatGPT sourced its CBD SEO recommendations from a blog post on fullyactivatedcbd.com, which is a Shopify CBD store. The post recommends five agencies. We ran the same five checks on each one that we ran on every agency in this article: does the domain resolve, is there a named team, is there a business address, is there an independent profile anywhere, and are there client case studies involving someone other than the owner.
Here is what came back on 20 August 2026.
| Agency ChatGPT recommended | Domain resolves | Named team | Independent profile | Third-party case study |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Agency ranked first | Yes | No | None found | No. Its one case study is the founder’s own brand |
| HempRank Digital | No. hemprankdigital.com is unregistered | n/a | n/a | n/a |
| CBDClimb SEO | No. cbdclimb.com has no current registration | n/a | n/a | n/a |
| PureLeaf Marketing | No. pureleafmarketing.co is unregistered | n/a | n/a | n/a |
| CartHemp Media | No. carthempmedia.com is unregistered | n/a | n/a | n/a |
We ran a control domain through the same checker and it returned HTTP 200, so those four failures are real. We have not named the agency in the top row. It is a live business, the source article is cited above, and anyone who wants the name can find it in ten seconds. The finding here is about the four below it.
For comparison, the same five checks applied to us: cbdseoxperts.com resolves, domain registered 2023 (agency founded 2022), founder named on the site and on LinkedIn, no Clutch profile, and five published client case studies. We fail one of the five. Any agency asking you to trust a ranking should be willing to show you its own score on the same test, and most of the firms in this article have never been asked.
ChatGPT drew four more agency names from onpattison.com, a Philadelphia sports news site. That article sits at a URL path containing /paid-content/, is filed under “News from Our Partners,” and carries no byline. Of the five agencies it lists, exactly one gets an outbound link, and it is the one ranked first. Two of the remaining four, Cannamark Advisors and Budsmith Agency, have no presence anywhere on the internet outside that single article.
Six agency names. No verifiable existence. All surfaced to buyers as recommendations by the most-used AI tools in the world.
The number one AI recommendation runs on reactivated domains
Client Verge is a real company. The domain was registered in September 2018, there is a founder LinkedIn profile, and there is a Clutch profile.
The Clutch profile has zero reviews. The site names no team, no address and no client case studies, and its two properties disagree about results: the .com claims over $4M in client revenue, the .ca claims over $8M.
What put it at number one in two AI models is a set of expired domains publishing listicles.
marijuanalogues.com was registered in December 2000 for a comedy book called The Marijuana-logues. Its WHOIS record changed on 3 January 2026 and every media upload on the site dates from February 2026. It has 123 referring domains and two organic keywords. It publishes “8 Best Marijuana Marketing Agencies in 2026 (Ranked by Experts),” which names no expert and no author, with Client Verge first.
corecbd.com had its WHOIS record change on 20 February 2026, with media uploads starting in April. It publishes “The 6 Best CBD Marketing Companies in 2026,” concluding that the best is Client Verge.
Both sites run Elementor 4.2.3. Both use the same listicle template and the same Client Verge section structure, down to headings like “Watch: Client Verge in Action” and “Find Client Verge.” Both pad their rankings with genuine agencies, Hybrid and PufCreativ and Cannabis Creative and NisonCo among them, which is what makes the pages read as editorial.
We are describing an observable pattern. We have not established who operates these sites and we make no claim about ownership.
Where it gets awkward?
corecbd.com is the client named in Coalition Technologies’ cannabis case study. Coalition ranks first on Google for “cbd seo agency.”
Their case study describes CoreCBD as a CBD oil company selling edibles, vape juices and topical creams on WordPress, and reports that Coalition doubled its traffic and grew revenue by over 300%. Independent traces confirm the original business was real: a Crunchbase profile, a Yelp listing at an Irvine, California address, a Facebook page.
The site at that domain today has no products, no shop and no prices. Of 379 backlinks, 292 are broken across 19 dead pages. The homepage is a blog feed carrying 16,282 words of 2026 posts about Quebec dispensaries, research peptides, generic CBD explainers, and which CBD marketing company is best. That last post recommends Client Verge.
Two things need saying clearly. Coalition’s case study does not link to the client’s website, so the identification rests on a name and business-type match. And the domain changed hands or purpose in February 2026, well after their engagement. The current state of corecbd.com says nothing about the quality of Coalition’s work.
What it does say is that a domain named in the top-ranking cannabis agency’s flagship case study is now part of the network promoting a different agency to the top of ChatGPT.
What this means if you are hiring?
Two lessons come out of this, and they point in opposite directions.
The first is that a recommendation from ChatGPT is currently worth less than a recommendation from a person. The models are summarizing whatever ranks for “best cannabis marketing agency,” and a meaningful share of what ranks is paid placement and expired domains, with six entries that appear not to exist at all. Run the five checks in the table above on any agency an AI hands you before you email them.
The second is that this is a solvable problem for agencies, and it is roughly what our CBD AI SEO work does for cannabinoid brands. AI answer engines are assembled from the pages that describe you across the web, not from your own site. That is why a firm can hold position one on Google and be invisible in ChatGPT. We are in that position ourselves today. The work of fixing it is unglamorous: get accurately described on pages that models actually retrieve, keep the facts consistent everywhere, and make each claim checkable. None of it involves buying an expired domain.
The 15 agencies at a glance
Cannabis share comes from Clutch industry mix where available, otherwise from the public client roster. Pricing figures marked with an asterisk are agency self-reported on Clutch and are not audited. “AI mentions” counts how many of ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini named the agency in our 20 August test.

1. CBDSEOXperts

Here is the argument for our position, and you can check it against the table above.
Every agency on this list that does 100% of its business in cannabis is led by branding, creative or PR. Hybrid is a brand strategy shop. Cannabis Creative builds websites and packaging. PufCreativ makes campaigns, with SEO at 5% of its service mix. Budder designs packaging and retail environments. Grasslands and NisonCo are PR firms. Dispenza runs dispensary retail marketing.
Every agency on this list that is genuinely SEO-led is a generalist. Coalition does 70% SEO with cannabis at roughly a tenth of its book. Outpace does 100% SEO with cannabis at 10%. Loopex does 100% SEO and lists no cannabis category on Clutch at all. 1Digital does 40% SEO with cannabis at 10%.
Those two columns do not overlap anywhere except here. We have worked on cannabinoid brands and nothing else since 2022, and organic search is the only thing we do.
That focus exists because of one problem. Cannabinoid content trips Google’s YMYL and health-claim systems in ways that generalist SEO playbooks make worse. An agency that runs the same content strategy for a dental practice and a CBD brand will write claims that get a hemp site suppressed. We have moved brands through Google Business Profile reinstatements, rebuilt product content to survive health-claim filtering, and taken a UK CBD flower brand from DR 28 to DR 49. Our HypnoSeeds and Goldenmonk case studies carry the full numbers.
What we do not do: packaging design, brand identity, programmatic media, national consumer PR. If you are a plant-touching MSO that needs a rebrand and a Forbes placement, four agencies further down this list are better calls than we are.
We were also named by zero AI models in our own test. We are a smaller and younger domain than most firms here, our own organic footprint is modest, and we would rather publish that than hide it while running an article about verification.
Last verified: 20 August 2026.
2. Hybrid Marketing Co

Denver, founded 2015, around 15 people. Clutch lists them at 100% legal cannabis, which very few agencies of this size can say.
They are a brand strategy shop first. Positioning, naming, packaging and campaign work, with SEO one of roughly ten service lines and nowhere near the core. The client roster is the strongest signal here: Cheech & Chong, Wana Wellness, Lightshade, Sol Flower, Housing Works Cannabis Co. Lightshade currently runs 2,959 organic keywords, so the digital side is not decorative.
They are a HubSpot Platinum Solutions Partner and a SEMrush Certified Agency Partner. Cannabis Business Insights named them Cannabis Marketing Agency of the Year for 2025, though that publication operates on a pay-to-enter basis and we would not weight it heavily.
At $200 to $300 an hour they are among the most expensive firms on this list.
Do not hire them if you need technical or ecommerce SEO as the main deliverable.
3. Cannabis Creative Group

Founded 2017 in the Boston area after Massachusetts legalized recreational cannabis, operating from Newton. They work under a parent company, CHAMP Digital, which dates to 2009, so treat any “since 2009” framing as belonging to the parent company. The cannabis agency dates to 2017.
Their client page names roughly 40 companies including INSA, Ethos Cannabis, iAnthus, Fine Fettle and GrowGeneration. Ethos runs 6,897 organic keywords and INSA runs 2,970, which puts them among the better-performing rosters here.
The offering is full-service creative: web design and development, SEO, social, email and SMS, packaging, photography. They won Hermes Creative Awards in 2022 and 2023.
Their About page says Boston and Chicago while every third-party record lists Newton, Massachusetts. Minor, but worth knowing if location matters to you.
Do not hire them if you want a deep specialist in one channel. This is a team that covers all of them.
4. PufCreativ

The most decorated creative shop in cannabis, and it is not close. Two CLIO Cannabis Awards in 2023, ADCANN Agency of the Year twice, and Chelsea Bates named ADCANN Marketer of the Year in 2025. Those awards are competitively judged, with no pay-to-enter component.
Denver-based, founded 2017, somewhere between 10 and 49 staff depending on whether you count contractors. The roster is STIIIZY, Lowell Farms, Blazy Susan and Gentlemen Smugglers. STIIIZY alone runs 7,354 organic keywords and an estimated 179,504 monthly organic visits.
Clutch puts advertising at 50% of their mix and SEO at 5%, which tells you what to hire them for. They also run a giving program, PufCreativ Cares.
Pricing is not published anywhere.
Do not hire them if search is your primary channel. This is a campaign and identity shop.
5. Grasslands Agency

Founded in 2016 by Ricardo Baca, who was The Denver Post’s first cannabis editor. That background is the whole proposition, and it holds up: Puffco, Wyld, Alien Labs, Hometown Hero, plus non-cannabis work for Naropa University and Illegal Pete’s. Puffco runs an estimated 341,780 monthly organic visits.
They hold a Clio for PR and two Emjay Awards for PR Agency of the Year. The trademarked positioning is “A Journalism-Minded Agency.”
Around ten people per their current team page. They have extended into psychedelics and supplements alongside cannabis.
Do not hire them for search. They do earned media, and they do not pretend otherwise.
6. NisonCo

Operating since 2013 from East Brunswick, New Jersey, which makes them the oldest cannabis-focused PR firm in the United States by their own account. Clutch puts legal cannabis at 70% of their client base.
Verano, Greenlane, Moxie, Green Roads, Vicente. Verano runs 2,289 organic keywords and Green Roads 1,501. Business Insider called them the pre-eminent firm in the cannabis sector in 2021, and founder Evan Nison sits on the Forbes Agency Council.
They are the only firm here that runs PR and SEO as a genuine pair, with SEO doing real work instead of filling out a services page. Their team page lists about six people following a deliberate downsizing to what they describe as an AI-enabled team, so understand you are buying a small senior group.
Pricing is not disclosed.
Do not hire them if you need a large team on a fast timeline.
7. Budder Creative

Six people in Philadelphia doing brand identity, packaging and physical retail design. Nothing digital, no media buying, no SEO. The narrowest positioning on this list and the clearest.
Their roster is unusual for the size: Trulieve, Ethos Cannabis, Story Cannabis, Harvest Health, Apothecanna. Trulieve is one of the largest MSOs in the country and runs 18,940 organic keywords. They also sell a modular retail display system called Budder Displays.
Founders Laksman Frank and Michael Marra split brand and retail between them. Their site references multiple industry awards without naming any, so we cannot verify that claim. Founding year is not publicly disclosed and Crunchbase obfuscates it.
Do not hire them for anything that happens on a screen.
8. Dispenza

Las Vegas, focused on dispensary retail and delivery. Local SEO, WordPress development, conversion work and menu platform integrations. They claim to have worked with 500 locations and name NuLeaf, Norcal Cannabis and Firehouse Dispensary.
They publish real pricing, which almost nobody here does: tiers running from $399 a month up to $6,500 a month, with multi-location discounts. That makes them the most accessible option for a single-store operator by a wide margin.
They market themselves as the only cannabis agency that guarantees results and publish case studies claiming sales increases between 50% and 733%. Those figures are self-reported and we could not verify them.
Founding year is not publicly disclosed.
Do not hire them if you are brand-side. This is a retail shop.
9. MediaJel

Not an agency in the same sense as the rest of this list. MediaJel owns a programmatic demand-side platform built for federally restricted verticals, with identity resolution and customer-level attribution as the actual product. Managed service sits on top of it.
Founded 2017 in Walnut Creek, California by Jake Litke and Aaron Silverman, with a $2.5M seed round led by Merida Capital Partners in 2018 and Omnicom Chairman Emeritus Thomas Harrison on the board. They serve cannabis alongside gaming, alcohol and political advertising.
Named clients include Vireo Health, Ethos and Cloud Cannabis. Vireo runs 2,813 organic keywords. Most of their case studies are anonymized and every performance figure is self-reported.
One correction to a claim that circulates: SITO Mobile announced a definitive agreement to acquire MediaJel in September 2019. MediaJel operates independently today and we could not establish what happened to that deal, so treat any statement that they were acquired as unconfirmed.
Do not hire them if your budget cannot carry programmatic media spend on top of fees.
10. 5W Public Relations

By some distance the largest firm here. 5WPR is a top-15 US PR agency by O’Dwyer’s rankings with 250 to 300 staff, and it launched a CBD specialty division in December 2018 timed to the Farm Bill, expanding the cannabis practice into its Miami office in 2022.
Cresco Labs, cbdMD, CBDistillery, Extract Labs. cbdMD runs 3,585 organic keywords. They won a Grand Stevie for Most Honored PR Agency in 2024.
You are buying mainstream consumer media relationships that cannabis-native firms do not have. You are also buying a division inside a general agency, and founder Ronn Torossian has a documented controversy record that is worth reading before you sign.
Do not hire them if you want senior attention on a small retainer.
11. 1Digital Agency

Philadelphia, founded 2012, more than 50 in-house specialists. Ecommerce SEO with real platform depth: BigCommerce Elite Partner and Shopify Plus Partner, with integration work across Dutchie, Jane, Treez and iHeartJane.
They publish $185 an hour on their own cannabis page along with four package tiers, no setup fees and a standard twelve-month commitment. That is the best pricing disclosure of any agency in this article.
The catch is that they name no cannabis clients at all. Their public roster is Kate Spade, Steinway & Sons, Hitachi and Synchrony, and they explicitly decline to disclose cannabis work. Clutch puts legal cannabis at 10% of their industry mix. You are trusting platform expertise in place of a visible cannabis track record.
Do not hire them if you need to see cannabis case studies before committing.
12. Forge Digital Marketing

Naperville, Illinois. Their real identity is a Klaviyo-certified ecommerce agency for health, nutrition and supplement brands on Shopify, and cannabis is an extension of that. Email and retention lead the offering, with SEO secondary.
CBD Kratom, Sunset Lake CBD, BeeZBee CBD, alongside Optimum Nutrition and Irwin Naturals. Sunset Lake runs 2,389 organic keywords. Every named cannabis-adjacent client is hemp or CBD. We found no plant-touching dispensary or MSO client.
$250 an hour per DesignRush. Their founding year appears as 2014 on DesignRush and nowhere on their own site, so treat it as unconfirmed.
Do not hire them if you are plant-touching. This is a hemp DTC shop.
13. Coalition Technologies

Los Angeles, founded 2009, self-reporting 200 to 250 specialists. The largest pure SEO operation on this list and the current number one organic result for “cbd seo agency,” with 3,147 ranking keywords and an estimated 68,770 monthly organic visits. Google Premier Partner, Shopify Premier Partner, Klaviyo Platinum.
Cannabis is roughly 10% of what they do. Their named cannabis clients are Native Sun Cannabis, CanEx Delivery, Ozark MMJ Cards and CoreCBD, alongside a general roster including Microsoft, Roku and Harvard. Native Sun runs 1,777 organic keywords.
At $50 to $99 an hour with month-to-month contracts available, they are among the cheapest options here relative to team size.
Read the AI section above before you shortlist them. The CoreCBD situation does not reflect on their work, but their flagship cannabis case study points at a domain that no longer hosts the business it describes.
Do not hire them if you want a cannabis specialist. Hire them if you want a large and inexpensive generalist SEO team.
14. Outpace SEO

Oklahoma City with a second office in Charlotte, co-founded by Chad Leonard and Summit Ghimire. Clutch puts them at 100% SEO, split between WordPress at 70% and Shopify at 25%. Around 11 to 50 people.
Cannabis is 10% of their industry mix. Their cannabis page claims dispensaries, cultivators and CBD brands, but the closest named client is PerfectVape, a vape ecommerce store. No dispensary or plant-touching client is named.
Two things to flag. Their founding year is 2020 according to Inc. and Crunchbase, while their Clutch profile says 2013. And their site references Inc. 5000 recognition that we could not verify; their Inc. profile shows no rank or year.
$150 to $199 an hour.
Do not hire them if cannabis-specific compliance is the reason you are hiring.
15. Loopex Digital

Los Angeles area with delivery from Yerevan, Armenia, founded 2018, claiming over 100 SEO specialists. Clutch lists them at 100% SEO and includes GEO work for AI search visibility.
They have two published cannabis case studies. Qwin went from 370 to 7,412 monthly organic visits by their account, and Dr. Ganja from 11,892 to 23,187. Our own pull on drganja.com shows 3,115 organic keywords and an estimated 9,314 monthly visits, which is below their claimed figure, though the two methodologies are not directly comparable.
Their Clutch industry mix lists no cannabis category at all. They also publish a competing roundup that ranks themselves first without disclosing it, which is the practice this article exists partly to document.
$50 to $99 an hour, $1,000 minimum. Real SEO capability at a low price, thin cannabis specialisation.
Do not hire them if you need someone who understands state cannabis advertising law.
Three agencies we removed, and why
These three appear on other cannabis roundups. We took them off after checking.
Flying V Group shows up repeatedly on cannabis lists. We found no cannabis clients named anywhere, and their Clutch profile lists no cannabis industry category at all. Their industry mix is financial services, legal, medical, automotive and insurance. SEO is 15% of their service offering. They rank for cannabis terms because they publish cannabis listicles.
Elit-Web runs a cannabis and CBD SEO service page. Their largest industry on Clutch is gambling at 25%, they name no cannabis client or case study, and their site displays an IKEA logo we could not confirm. Their Clutch-verified reviewers are small European B2B firms. At $25 to $49 an hour they are the cheapest option we found, and that is the honest description of what they are.
Avidon Marketing Group has a cannabis SEO service page. Their only named cannabis client is Save On Cannabis, which is a coupon and affiliate site, not an operator. Their site says Los Angeles; their Clutch profile lists a residential address in Mesa, Arizona.
None of this means these are bad agencies. It means the cannabis positioning is not supported by anything we could verify, and a buyer shortlisting on that basis deserves to know.
Which agency fits which business
The three cannabis segments have almost no vendor overlap, and lists that blur them are answering a question nobody asked.
Plant-touching THC brands and MSOs
Your constraints are Metrc and state-by-state advertising law, with no access to Google Ads or Meta. Paid acquisition is mostly closed, so brand and earned media carry disproportionate weight.
Hybrid Marketing Co for positioning. PufCreativ for campaign and identity work. Budder Creative if the problem is packaging or retail environment. MediaJel if you have the budget for compliant programmatic. Grasslands or NisonCo for press.
Coalition and 1Digital can handle the technical build, but neither will guide you through state advertising rules.
Hemp and CBD ecommerce
Your constraints are different. You can sometimes advertise, but your content sits inside Google’s YMYL and health-claim systems, and payment processing is fragile. Organic is the durable channel because it is the one nobody can switch off.
This is our segment: hemp SEO for CBD ecommerce brands. Also 1Digital for platform-level ecommerce SEO, Forge Digital if email and retention are the gap, Coalition if you want scale at low cost.
Dispensary retail and multi-location
Your constraints are Google Business Profile suspensions and menu platform indexing, plus the local pack.
Dispenza is built for this and publishes pricing a single store can afford. 1Digital for menu platform integrations at scale. Coalition if you have many locations and need volume.
How to vet a cannabis agency before you sign
Six checks, and the last one is the one nobody runs.
Ask what share of their revenue is cannabis, then open their Clutch profile and compare. The industry mix is self-reported and public. A firm that tells you “we’re deep in cannabis” while Clutch says 10% has answered a different question than the one you asked.
Ask for a client whose Google Business Profile they got reinstated, and for the timeline. Suspensions are the single most expensive thing that happens to a dispensary, and an agency that has never handled one will learn on your account.
Ask whether they have had a cannabis or CBD account approved on any ad platform, and ask to see it. Most have not.
Ask which menu platforms they have integrated. Dutchie, Jane, Treez, Blaze. If they cannot name one, they have not done dispensary SEO.
Ask what they will not do. Specialists have a list. Generalists say yes to everything, which is the tell.
Then run their own domain through Ahrefs or Semrush. An SEO agency that cannot rank itself is telling you something, and this check cuts against us as much as anyone: our domain rating is 25 and our organic footprint is small. We would argue a cannabinoid-only firm three years into building a domain is a different proposition from a ten-year-old generalist with no cannabis clients, but weigh that yourself. Do not take our word for it.
Questions buyers actually ask
How much does a cannabis marketing agency cost in 2026?
Only four of the 15 publish anything. 1Digital charges $185 an hour. Dispenza runs monthly tiers from $399 to $6,500. Coalition is $50 to $99 an hour with a $1,000 minimum. Hybrid is $200 to $300 an hour with a $5,000 minimum. Everyone else says contact us. As a rough shape, expect $2,000 to $5,000 a month for a single-location dispensary, $5,000 to $15,000 for a brand-side retainer, and more once media spend is involved.
Can cannabis companies advertise on Google or Meta in 2026?
Not for THC. Google permits certain CBD topicals and some hemp-derived products in specific states under a certification process, and the rules change often enough that any agency quoting you a fixed answer is guessing. Meta remains closed to plant-touching brands. This is why organic search and digital PR carry the weight they do in this industry.
What is the difference between a cannabis SEO agency and a cannabis marketing agency?
A marketing agency covers brand, creative, paid media and PR, usually with SEO as one line among many. An SEO agency does organic search only. The distinction matters more in cannabis than elsewhere, because the channels a general marketing agency would normally reach for are the ones closed to you.
Do I need a cannabis specialist or will a generalist work?
For a technical build or an ecommerce migration, a good generalist is fine. For anything touching content, compliance or local SEO, the generalist playbook actively causes damage: health claims that get hemp sites suppressed, GBP listings that get suspended, ad accounts that get banned. Our removals section exists because several agencies marketing themselves as cannabis specialists are generalists with a service page.
How long does cannabis SEO take to work?
For a hemp or CBD ecommerce site with an existing domain, expect early keyword movement at 8 to 12 weeks and commercially meaningful traffic between months five and nine. New domains take longer. Our cannabis SEO guide breaks the timeline down. Anyone promising page one in 90 days is either doing something that will hurt you or targeting keywords nobody searches.
What to do with this
If you are shortlisting agencies, run the six checks above on whoever you are considering, including us. The Clutch industry mix takes thirty seconds to look up and disqualifies more firms than any other single check.
If you are an agency on this list and something here is wrong, email us with a source and we will correct it and log the change.
We re-verify every entry quarterly and publish a dated changelog. The next pass is November 2026.
