The short answer
CBD link building is getting links to a CBD, hemp or cannabis website from other sites that cover the same topics. CBD link building services do the whole job for you: they find publishers that accept cannabinoid brands, write the article, pitch the editor and check that the link stays live.
CBD backlinks are links to your site from publishers that cover cannabis, hemp, Delta-8, wellness or lifestyle. They're harder to get than ordinary links because the category is restricted. Many link marketplaces won't list CBD, and most generalist agencies have no publisher relationships in the niche. The same is true of cannabis link building for seed banks, hemp stores and dispensaries.
Google gives more weight to links from sites that cover your topic. In our campaigns, one DR 50 cannabis publication has moved money keywords further than ten DR 70 lifestyle blogs. That's the core of CBD link building: relevance first, authority second.
CBD is a "your money or your life" topic in Google's quality guidelines, because it touches health. Google holds those pages to a higher standard, so link quality matters more here than in most niches.

What you get
Every link we sell is a full placement. There's no "you write the article, we find the site" split. A single order covers:
Sites from our vetted list, with DR, organic traffic and referring domains shown for each one before you approve it.
At least 1,000 words, written to pass the publisher's editor and our health-claim review.
To the target page you choose, with the anchor text you approve.
With the editor, done by our in-house team.
The live URL, the publisher's DR and traffic on the day the link went live, and the anchor used.
With a free replacement if the link is removed, the page 404s or the page drops out of Google's index.

Market prices
We checked the public prices of CBD link building services ranking on Google. Here's the range a buyer will see:
| Option | Typical price | What you usually get |
|---|---|---|
| Freelancer gigs | Varies by seller | Depends on the seller; site vetting and guarantees vary |
| Self-serve marketplaces | Guest posts from $160, link insertions $177 to $297 | You pick from a list and handle the vetting yourself |
| Specialist CBD agencies, per link | $150 to $650 per link, by DR | Managed outreach, varying levels of reporting |
| Agency retainers | From about $2,000 a month | A monthly link count, usually with a minimum term |
| Average link prices, all niches | Guest posts about $295, link insertions about $179 | A benchmark across every niche, not CBD-specific |
| CBDSEOXperts | $120 to $300 per link | Managed outreach, sites approved by you, screenshot reports, 12-month replacement |
A link that disappears after three months cost you the full price for a quarter of the value. That's why we price on links that last: the 12-month replacement guarantee means you pay once for a link that stays live for at least a year.
Link types
| Link type | What it is | Time to go live | Risk | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Guest post | A new article on a publisher's site with your link in the body | 2 to 4 weeks | Low on vetted sites | Steady authority building on category pages |
| Link insertion | Your link added to an existing article that already ranks | 1 to 2 weeks | Low to medium, depending on the article's age and topic | Faster results on product and collection pages |
| Digital PR | Data or expert commentary picked up by news and media sites | 4 to 8 weeks | Lowest | Brand authority and links from sites you can't buy on |
| Listicle placement | Your brand added to "best CBD gummies" style roundups | 2 to 6 weeks | Low | Buyer-intent traffic and AI-answer mentions |
| Citations and directories | Listings on cannabis directories and map sites | 1 to 2 weeks | Medium on low-quality directories | Local stores and dispensaries |
We offer digital PR and listicle placements as separate services: see Digital PR for CBD and Cannabis listicles.
Process
Built for a restricted category, where one bad link can undo months of clean work.
30 minutes
We learn your business, your revenue pages, your current link profile and anything your legal team won't sign off on. No commitment.
5 to 7 days
We map the link profiles of the three sites ranking above you and pick the publishers most likely to move your money keywords.
Before any pitch
A sheet of proposed publishers with DR, traffic and referring domains, plus the anchor and target page for each. Nothing is pitched until you approve it.
Ongoing
We write the article, run it through the health-claim review, pitch the editor and agree the placement.
Monthly
You get the screenshot report and the live URLs. We check every link for 12 months.
If a placement is removed, the page 404s or it drops out of Google's index within 12 months, we replace it on a site of the same tier or higher at no cost. The longest guarantee we found from other CBD link building providers was 6 months.

Testimonials
We'd been searching for ways to reach more customers without burning ad spend. CBDSEOXperts built a link strategy that matched our category constraints from day one. Visibility lifted sharply and customer acquisition followed.
DJMarketing Head, Exhale Wellness and BudPop Read the Exhale Wellness case study They secured high-quality backlinks from authoritative cannabis publishers and industry influencers. The placements lifted our search rankings and pulled in highly targeted readers actually interested in our products, not random spillover traffic.
LunaMarketing Head, Hypno Seeds Read the Hypno Seeds case study CBDSEOXperts delivered 150 links at an average DR of 50, and page rankings on our money queries jumped on schedule. The team was communicative, organised, responsive and flexible.
KallumMarketing Head, GoldenMonk Read the GoldenMonk case study Most link sellers won't touch our category, and the ones that will send you junk. CBDSEOXperts got Tabease placed on real, relevant publishers, and every site was shown to us before anything went live. Clear reporting, no surprises.
JeremyTabease We resell CBDSEOXperts' link building under our own brand. They handle a niche most vendors refuse, the placements hold up when our clients check them, and they never contact our clients directly. That's exactly what a white-label partner should be.
MattWhite-label partner, SteadyContent Why us
Every pitch is written and sent by our own team. No virtual-assistant mass emails and no automation that burns your domain's sender reputation.
You see the publisher, its metrics, the anchor and the target page before we pitch. If you don't like a site, it's off the list.
1,400+ CBD-safe sites across cannabis, hemp, wellness and lifestyle, from DR 20 to DR 80+. A person on our team checks every site for real traffic and topical fit.
We choose anchors and target pages around the keywords that sell products. Rankings for terms nobody buys from don't count as a win.
If a placement is removed, the page 404s or it drops out of Google's index within 12 months, we replace it on a site of the same tier or higher at no cost.
Content angles
Publishers treat CBD products differently. A wellness magazine that runs a skincare piece may refuse anything ingestible. We match the angle to the product before we pitch.
| Product | Publishers that usually accept it | Angles that get approved | What gets rejected |
|---|---|---|---|
| CBD topicals and skincare | Beauty, skincare, fitness and sports recovery sites | Post-workout routines, ingredient explainers, skincare comparisons | Claims that a cream treats pain or a condition |
| Broad-spectrum and isolate CBD | Wellness, lifestyle and fitness sites | Evening routines, how CBD is made, buying guides | Anxiety, sleep or pain framed as a cure |
| Full-spectrum CBD (trace THC) | Cannabis and hemp publishers, some wellness sites | Lab testing explainers, the entourage effect as a topic, how to read a COA | Anything that implies intoxication or targets under-21s |
| Pet CBD | Pet care and dog lifestyle blogs | Ingredient safety, how to choose a pet product, travel and routine pieces | Claims that CBD treats a pet's illness |
| Delta-8, THCA and other hemp THC | Cannabis-native publishers only | Legal explainers, product testing, industry news | Most mainstream and wellness sites refuse these outright |
Compliance
A link is only as safe as the page it points to and the article it sits in. These are the rules we check against.
The 2018 Farm Bill defined hemp as cannabis with no more than 0.3% delta-9 THC by dry weight. Section 781 of Public Law 119-37, signed in November 2025, changes that test to total THC (THCA counts) and caps finished consumable hemp products at 0.4 mg of total THC per container. The change is scheduled to take effect in late 2026. Many Delta-8, THCA and full-spectrum products on the market today are above that cap.
What this means for your links: publishers are already reviewing their cannabinoid content, and some will pull articles that point to products that no longer qualify. We flag target pages that could fall outside the new definition before we build links to them, so you don't pay for links an editor will remove.
Google Ads allows CBD ads only for topical, hemp-derived products with 0.3% THC or less, such as creams, lotions and roll-ons. The advertiser needs LegitScript certification and Google's own CBD certification, and Google limits these ads to California, Colorado and Puerto Rico. Oils, gummies and other ingestibles are not on Google's allowed list. Meta allows CBD ads only in the United States, with active LegitScript certification and written approval from Meta. The ads can't target anyone under 18, the product must contain 0.3% THC or less, and health claims aren't allowed. Both platforms ban THC products. That leaves organic search and AI answers as the main way most CBD brands reach new buyers.
The FDA has not approved CBD as a treatment for anything except one prescription epilepsy drug, Epidiolex. Telling readers that a CBD product treats, cures or prevents a disease turns it into an unapproved drug claim. The FTC requires evidence for any health claim and has taken action against CBD companies that made them.
Every article we write for a placement goes through our health-claim review, and so does our on-site CBD content writing. Two examples of what changes:

Risks
Some of the cheapest offers in this niche can cost you more than they save. We don't sell any of these:
Networks of sites built only to sell links. Google's spam systems look for their footprints, and in a health-related niche the penalty can take a site out of the results for months.
"You link to me, I link to you" across dozens of CBD sites leaves an obvious pattern.
Most have no traffic and exist only to sell listings.
A profile where most anchors read "buy CBD gummies" looks bought. We keep most anchors branded or descriptive.
If a publisher links out to 40 competitors a month, a link there tells Google nothing good about you.
Fifty links in a week on a young domain looks unnatural. We pace links to match your site's age and current profile.
Most agencies stop caring once a link is published. We check every placement for 12 months, and replace any link that is removed, 404s or drops out of the index, at no cost.

With us, each link includes publisher selection, an original article of 1,000+ words, outreach to the editor, one contextual link with the anchor you approve, a screenshot report and 12 months of monitoring. You approve the publisher, anchor and target page before anything is pitched.
CBD backlinks tell Google that publishers in a restricted, health-related category trust your site. That trust is hard to fake, which is why it moves rankings. Every clean, relevant link you earn adds authority to your whole domain, so your product and category pages rank more easily as well as the page that gets the link.
Yes. Many publishers refuse CBD content, so placements depend on relationships with the editors who accept it. Anchors need more care, because exact-match product anchors look bought in a health niche. The article also has to avoid health claims that would trip a publisher's review or the FDA's rules. A generalist agency without these relationships usually falls back on PBNs or sites that sell to anyone.
Use Google Search Console for changes in rankings and impressions on the linked pages, Ahrefs or Semrush for changes in your link profile, and GA4 for referral traffic from each placement. Our monthly report puts these side by side, with a screenshot of every live link.
Our CBD backlinks cost $120 to $300 per link, depending on the publisher's DR. Across the market, specialist CBD agencies charge $150 to $650 per link, and retainers start at about $2,000 a month. First orders of $5,000 or more get 30% off.
No paid link is risk-free, and anyone who promises otherwise is overselling. Google's spam policies treat links bought to manipulate rankings as a link scheme. The risk comes mostly from patterns: PBNs, sites that sell to anyone, exact-match anchors on every link and sudden spikes. We reduce it by placing links only on real publishers with real readers, matching each article to the site's normal content, keeping anchors mostly branded and pacing links to your site's profile. Since 2022, none of our clients has received a manual action.
Google usually takes 4 to 12 weeks to reflect new links in rankings, and longer for very competitive keywords. In our published case studies, the larger gains came between month 6 and month 12.
For a newer site, a mix of DR 30+ and DR 40+ links builds a natural-looking base. Sites that already have some authority usually get the most from DR 50+ links pointed at their main category and product pages. We recommend a mix on the strategy call, based on the sites ranking above you.
Yes. We work with hemp-derived THC and kratom brands too: GoldenMonk, a kratom vendor, is one of our case studies. Fewer publishers accept these products, so we place them mainly on cannabis-native sites. We'll also tell you if a product page could fall outside the federal hemp definition that changes in late 2026.
Always. You get a shortlist with each site's DR, traffic and referring domains, plus the proposed anchor and target page. Nothing is pitched until you approve it.
We check its organic traffic and how that traffic has trended, where the traffic comes from, the ratio of its referring domains to its outbound links, who else it links to, and whether it has a footprint shared with known PBNs. We also confirm the site has editors who review submissions. Sites that sell to anyone with a price list don't make the cut.
We replace it for free. The 12-month guarantee covers removed links, stripped links, 404s, de-indexed pages and ownership changes that break the link. The replacement goes on a site of the same tier or higher.
Yes, when the article is written for the publisher's readers and placed on a site with real editors. Mass guest posts on sites that publish anything for a fee work badly, and they're the pattern Google is best at spotting.
Publishers are reviewing their cannabinoid content ahead of the change. Expect fewer sites to accept Delta-8 and THCA articles, and some existing articles linking to those products to be removed. We check every target page against the new definition before building links, and our replacement guarantee covers links an editor removes.
